University of Plymouth 

(2021 to present) BSc, Accounting and Finance

I founded and ran the Accounting and Finance Society during my first-year of University, was recently appointed Vice President of Engagement of Enactus Plymouth. I also take part in the Dance Society, where my teammates and I competed in dance competitions at Portsmouth and Loughborough University. I worked as a Student Ambassador for the University of Plymouth, Sanctuary Graduates and Hype Collective, and worked as a freelance Social Media Content Creator on Instagram and TikTok.

(2022) Accounting Summer Intern

Completed routine bookkeeping for several businesses and prepared accounts using the Xero software for various businesses.

Day in the Life 

Below is a typical day in the life of an Accounting Summer Intern at Harland Accountants and an example of what their role requires on a daily basis.

Wake up 

I get up at 7am, take the train from Plymouth to St Austell at 7:30, and arrive at the office at 8:45. The work hours are 9 to 5 everyday.

In the office 

The tasks I am assigned to depends on my colleagues’ workload, which ranges from Bookkeeping, Accounts Preparation and Office Administration. We have weekly zoom meetings every Monday And Wednesdays. On Mondays, we do a fun quiz (about Disney Princesses, famous people, countries, etc.) to start the week. Before our day ends, we upload the tasks we’ve completed on our computers.

Finish

We all finish at 17:00 everyday. However, my colleagues told me they may have to work more hours from January to April. Companies have a December 31st year end, so they have to prepare tax documents and filings for more clients than usual.
