Online Application
I made my application by submitting my CV and answering general question such as “why do you want to work for CGI” or “what would make you a good fit at CGI”.
How to respond for success
The way I tailored my CV is by putting it into sections like profile summary, education, projects completed, work experience, extra qualifications & interests (in that order) and I didn’t tailor it for CGI just a CV that I’d apply to any company for a software engineer role. I think what made my CV stand out is that I’ve done many projects and what I think I did well on is talk about the technologies that I’ve used.
Expect a 3-4 week wait before advancing to the next stage.
Assessment Centre
if your application is successful, you’ll be asked to attend a virtual assessments centre. The assessment has the following structure.
- Introduction about the company and the agenda of the day.
- Group task where we had a couple of minutes to get to know each other and then we had come up with a solution and presentation to regarding an issue given to us. We had 10 minutes to plan then we presented.
- Individual task. You have a very limited amount of time to complete this task. I had to email certain people (around 6 people) in CGI about certain issues with solutions and make sure the correct person was contacted with the correct information.
- Individual interview, lasting 1.5 – 2 hours with a director and tech lead at CGI. They asked a lot of questions.
Example
The questions were about my application, CV, Linked in. They went very deep into my CV such as my experience, projects I’ve done at university, qualifications, technologies used. Then technical questions was asked the what would do scenario and data algorithms.
How to respond for success
The advice I’d give is by making your answer simple and not over complex. During the interview I had a tie and shirt on. I didn’t have any online resources, I just used Glassdoor for research. Don’t worry if you mess up a question just make sure to focus on whats next. Make sure you know your data algorithms and make sure you know how to sell yourself. I'd also recommend doing as much research on the company as possible
Expect around a 1-2 week wait before receiving a call offering you a position.
